Naughty Dog:
Naughty Dog software (Jam Software before it was renamed in 1989) is a games developer which was originally an independent developer until it was acquired by Sony computer entertainment in 2001. The company was founded by Andy Gavin and Jason Rubin in 1984. The two made several successful games including 'Rings of Power' for the sega genesis/mega drive, and 'Way of the Warrior' for the 3DO. The company was later urged to create a character based platform game that could make full use of the 3D capabilities of new systems, so Naughty Dog made 'Crash Bandicoot'. Over the next several years Naughty Dog made the Crash Bandicoot sequels.
Naughty Dog have had partnerships with other developers at times, such as 'Insomniac games' who worked in the same building as Naughty dog when the two were starting out. The two companies have had friendly rivalries with their titles 'Crash Bandicoot' (Naughty Dog) and 'Spyro the Dragon' (Insomniac) which competed against each other on the PlayStation. Then on the Playstation 2 their titles competed again, this time the games were 'Jak and Daxter'(Naughty Dog) and 'Ratchet and Clank' (Insomniac).
An employee of Naughty Dog split off and made a new company called 'Ready at Dawn' with former staff members from Naughty Dog and Blizzard entertainment joining.
Naughty Dog also shared their library of assets with High impact games in order to create 'Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier'. High impact is also made up of former Naughty dog staff as well as former Insomniac games staff.
